she knew the time had come.

she was older

her wounds had healed

worrying was so overrated.

she recovered from the emotional toll of her past

now courageous and brave

surrendered her fears to the powers that be

it was more peaceful that way.

she let go

and accepted what the universe had in store for her

for her family and friends too.

her passion for living did not dwindle

her love did not extinguish

her zest for writing was reignited

because she had more energy

more time to spend on the things that mattered most

only in the present moment now.

a new place of calm she had not experienced in years,

if ever.

and when she was asked what she wanted to be

or when she was asked what she wanted to do

in days or in months from today,

she remembered the person she was before

anxious and worried for a future unknown

she smiled, somewhat amused,

and reflected.

today she will be the best version of herself

and tomorrow she will try to be better

that was all that was certain to her.

this is how she chose to live

really live in the moment.

it would save her

from the

self-destructive

fabrications

her mind created

that only she was privy to

that only she believed.

changing the monologue was not only therapeutic,

it gave her a new purpose.

she grabbed her pen and wrote a new chapter in her story.
